Hot days can cause many hair problems, and one of the most common is frizz. However, you don’t have to give up beautifully styled hair. In this post we present effective ways to prevent frizz, along with advice on suitable cosmetics, tricks and other practical tips.
Proper care:
- Choose a gentle sulphate-free shampoo or a moisturising shampoo that won’t weigh your hair down.
- Regularly use moisturising conditioners and masks, which help maintain the right level of moisture in your hair.
- Avoid excessive use of hot hairdryers, straighteners and curling tongs, as these can dry out the hair and cause frizz.
Styling and tricks:
- After washing your hair, gently dry it with a towel, avoiding vigorous rubbing, which can increase frizz.
- Never brush your hair when it is dry, as this can lead to brittleness and frizz. Instead, use a wide-toothed comb or a brush with natural bristles.
- Before styling, use anti-frizz products such as a hair serum or moisturising cream, which help keep your hair under control.
- When drying your hair, use a diffuser to spread the airflow and reduce the harmful effect of hot air.
Protection from humidity:
- On hot days, avoid places with high humidity, such as saunas, swimming pools or jacuzzis, which can increase frizz.

- Use an umbrella or a headscarf to protect your hair from moisture during rain or damp weather.
Additional tips:
- Avoid touching your hair excessively, as this can contribute to frizz.
- Where possible, choose hairstyles that minimise your hair’s exposure to external factors, for example updos or a bun.
- Before going to sleep, tie your hair up in a loose bun or use a silk pillowcase to reduce the friction and frizz caused by pressure during the night.
Natural methods for taming frizz:
- Coconut milk: Apply a small amount of coconut milk to your hair, especially the ends, and leave it on for around ten minutes before washing. It moisturises and softens frizz.
- Natural oils: Try oils such as argan oil, coconut oil or jojoba oil, which have moisturising and anti-frizz properties. Spread a small amount of oil over your palms, then gently massage it into the ends of your hair.
- Apple cider vinegar: Dilute apple cider vinegar in water and, after washing your hair, gently pour it over your hair. Leave it on for a moment, then rinse. Apple cider vinegar helps close the hair cuticles and softens frizz.
Professional treatments such as keratin straightening: if you have problems with frizz, consider a keratin straightening treatment. This professional treatment helps smooth the hair and reduce frizz for a longer period of time.
